Japanese Nata Tool

Clear brush, strip bark, plank wood, make kindling–all with one thoughtfully-crafted tool. Inspired by a traditional Japanese implement and constructed with heritage-quality materials, our Japanese Nata Tool unites versatile function and refined durability. The stainless steel machete-like blade and a solid steel core that extends through the length of the hardwood handle lend stability and greater swinging weight yet it still packs thin and light, making it an essential addition to any collection.

Q: Why 900D Polyester?
A: 900D Polyester is water-resistant, resistant to bacteria, and very durable which makes it ideal for extended use in the outdoors.

Q: How do I care for this?
A: You should never dry clean or machine wash your sheath, but it can be carefully cleaned if you so choose. Brush off the loose dirt, rinse the surface with plain water, gently scrub with a brush, then let air dry. If your stains persist, use a mild bar soap.

Love it

The corner edge chipped 1st day, but I blame myself for hitting a rock by accident. Other than that, use all the time and love it

Great little tool.

I keep a machete on my kubota tractor too take out limbs that get in the way. I bought a cheap one form the local farm store and after only a couple uses the blade was damaged badly. I don’t see
that happening with this bad boy. It has a good amount of weight and the blade is thick and sharp enough to cut through some pretty decent size limbs in one swing. I cut through 20-30 tree limbs the first day I got it and it doesn’t even look used. It’s pretty bad a.. in my book.

Beyond a Great Tool

I had purchased a foraging axe over a year ago and decided to try the NATO too. Another precision made tool that will work for years to come. My son will appreciate both as these will be classic and very useful tools to pass down when I’m finished with them.

Well done Barebones!
