The Nakiri is an absolute workhorse when heavy-duty prep work is on the table.

Often referred to as a Japanese vegetable knife, the Nakiri is the perfect blend of the versatility of a chef knife and the blunt shape of a cleaver. The square shape and straight edge make it ideal for chopping cumbersome vegetables when the rocking motion of a chef knife won’t do. Use it to quickly work through sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or large zucchini. The deep, flat blade finesses through shredding and chiffonading lettuces, cabbages, and other leafy greens with ease. Full Tang 50CrMoV15 stainless steel blade is sharp, strong, and chip-resistant. Durable Pakkawood handle offers a beautiful aesthetic with a comfortable grip. Included full-grain cow leather sheath weathers real-world use while protecting the blade from dulling. Knife:
Store in a dry place. Apply a thin coat of protective oil after each use. Wipe clean of dirt, water, and fingerprints regularly. Sharpen as needed.

Leather Sleeve:
Use brush to clear debris. If necessary, rinse with lukewarm water and wrap in a dry towel. Avoid drying in hot temperatures as natural oils can be cooked out of leather. Do not re-sleeve knife until sleeve is completely dry. Apply leather oil as needed.

Q: Is the knife dishwasher safe?
A: No. The handle is made of wood and should not be exposed to water and detergent.

Q: Do I need to treat the wood handle with oil?
A: The wood has been treated with a protective finish that does not require maintenance and should be kept dry. Should the finish wear off over time, it is recommended to lightly wipe the wood with food-safe mineral oil.

Q: Can I store my No. 7 Nakiri Knife outside for extended periods of time?
A: The No. 7 Nakiri Knife is not meant to be stored outside for long periods of time. Extended exposure to wet conditions may cause rust and unnecessary wear and tear. We recommend storing your knife indoors after use to help it last as long as possible and to avoid the need to purchase a replacement.

    I prefer a knife with some heft this is a very sturdy workhorse of a knife incredibly sharp the shape is wonderful for scooping chopped onions off a cutting board and throwing them in the pan, it’s a very well-made knife !I’ve seen similar knives made in Japan costing five times as much so it’s a good value also !I bought one for myself and one for a friend very happy with my purchase and as usual very happy with the service I get at Bare bones!
