In October 2022, the Barebones team escaped to the Sierras and joined Hulu’s Chefs vs. Wild winner Chef Kevin O’Conner at Autocamp for an immersive culinary experience featuring foraging, fire making, and wood fire cooking techniques.
This was a weekend long trip that over 30 Autocampers from all over the country signed up to experience. From strangers to friends, we foraged the local areas for edibles to use in our meals, experienced the tremendous beauty of the national park, and listened to live music until the sun set dreamily behind the mountains.

From Forage To Fire To Table
Forage to table dinners with Chef Kevin O'Conner focus on local and seasonal eating and native species education, which work together to reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation of food.
Our group enjoyed fresh, in season ingredients that had been grown and sourced without the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, or hormones. It also provided a sense of community and connection. By dining together with others who share a passion for local, sustainable, and healthy food, we can build relationships and share these experiences and knowledge. It is a chance to celebrate food and the people who grow it and to create lasting memories with friends, family, and fellow food lovers.
ABOUT
Yosemite National Park
This California-based park offers breathtaking natural beauty, including towering granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and lush forests. Yosemite iconic landmarks, such as Half Dome and El Capitan, are recognized worldwide.
It is the traditional homeland of the Ahwahneechee people, who lived in the valley for thousands of years. It has served as a creative muse for famous historical photographers such as Ansel Adams and continues to drive millions of visitors annually. With a long history of conservation efforts, including the world's first national park system, Yosemite is a diverse ecosystem with over 400 species of animals and 1,000 species of plants.
Chef Kevin O'Connor
Raised in the Sierra Foothills, Kevin developed a love for gathering, hunting, foraging, and cooking at a young age. Starting in fine dining at the age of fourteen, the first twelve years of his career were spent in some of California’s best restaurants, while the past five years have been spent traveling the world with knives in tow. No matter the venture, Kevin strives to find a true connection to the food he cooks and the places it comes from. An avid outdoorsman and adventurist, he prefers an open fire to a traditional kitchen, cooking from the heart with a deep respect for seasonal ingredients.
