Hot Toddy recipe & Reel by Forty-Four North
How to Make
Hot Spiced Cider toddy
Ingredients
- 4 cups apple cider (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 large orange, sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries + more for garnish
- 3 sprigs of rosemary
- 2 cinnamon sticks or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 6 ounces whiskey
Materials
- Enamelware Mugs
- Enamel Saucepan
- Cowboy Ladle
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan or pot, pour in the 4 cups of apple cider. Place it over medium heat and warm the cider until it's just about to start simmering. You don't want it to boil, but it should be hot.
- While the cider is heating, add the sliced orange, fresh cranberries, rosemary sprigs, and cinnamon sticks (or ground cinnamon) into the pot. These ingredients will infuse your hot toddy.
- Let the mixture simmer gently for about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure everything is well combined.
- Once your spiced cider base is ready, remove the pot from the heat. Pour in the 6 ounces of whiskey, or adjust to your preferred strength. Stir well to combine.
- Ladle the hot spiced cider toddy into mugs. You can add a few extra fresh cranberries as a garnish for a pop of color and flavor. If you prefer, a cinnamon stick and a sprig of rosemary make for beautiful and aromatic garnishes as well.
- Serve your Hot Spiced Cider Toddy warm. Sip slowly and savor.
